The house
At the edge of the Markgräflerland region,
high above the Rhine plain.
A former farmhouse, built around 1719 – strikingly understated within the landscape.
The house presents itself clearly and modestly: plenty of wood, open spaces, no folklore. Right in front of the entrance stand two large stone sculptures that create a counterpoint and frame the place.
The estate is the private center of life of Konrad Winzer – sculptor, restaurateur, and connoisseur. The “Herzkammer” forms the core of the house, where living, art, and cuisine come together. Archaic in its materiality, yet thoughtfully designed. A house that has an impact – without explaining itself.
Living
Arrive and stay – right in the heart of a house
that gives space and shows character.
HISTORICAL STRUCTURE · 1719
Heart chamber 1
Archaic and sheltered – the old horse stable as a space of calm. Fireplace, sculptures, library, sleeping gallery under the roof.
DISCOVERNEW BUILD · 2025
Heart chamber 2
Open, filled with light, with a direct connection to the garden. Wood, glass, and wide window fronts create clarity and openness.
Both chambers can be used independently and are deliberately conceived differently. What connects them is the calm of the place and the idea of not staging living, but making it tangible.
Heart chamber 1
Sculpture room, library, kitchen, and sleeping gallery – the historic building from 1719.
What was once a horse stable is now a space of calm – reduced, distinctive, and timeless.
Heart chamber 2
Flooded with light, open, with clean lines – the new building from 2025.
The starting point was the old roof structure and the barn beneath it, which were extended, rebuilt, and carefully transformed.
Wood and glass define the architecture. Large window fronts bring light and landscape into the house. High-quality oak floors create a connection to the historic “Herzkammer.”
Less weight, more openness. The space lives from width, height, and views, not mass. A place for people who seek clarity – and still want to be part of the whole.
Garden
A place between art and landscape.
The garden of Herzkammer 1719 opens directly behind the house. From here, the view stretches far across the Rhine plain to Basel – hence the name “Baselblick.” Spaciousness, light, and landscape define the place.
Between Herzkammer 1 and the garden lies a space that connects both. This is where Konrad Winzer works and cooks. Workshop and kitchen flow into one another, with wooden and marble sculptures placed among stove, table, and tools. A long table forms the center – for conversation, shared meals, and encounters.
In the garden itself stand stone sculptures from earlier years. They organize the space without defining it. In summer, guests sit outside at the table, aperitifs are served here, and the view opens into the distance.
Herzkammer 1 and Herzkammer 2 are independent guest houses. The garden and the connecting space belong to Konrad’s private refuge – not part of the booking, but they may open naturally through shared exchange.

Region
The Markgräflerland region – light, hills, wide views.
Herzkammer 1719 is located in the Markgräflerland region – between the Black Forest, the Rhine plain, and the first hills toward the Vosges. A landscape that does not impose itself, but requires time.
Here, vastness and closeness exist side by side. Vineyards, forests, small villages, views toward France and Switzerland. Life unfolds more quietly, more naturally, without grand gestures.
Art, cuisine, and culture are part of everyday life here. Not as events, but as an attitude. Those who engage with it quickly notice: this region does not aim to impress – it stays.
Gallery
Impressions – house, spaces, and landscape.
